# Lists

A list is a set of contacts with mailable addresses. Sincerely builds one from a CRM, a CSV, or a description of the businesses you want found, then resolves and verifies every address before anything is allowed to print.

## The four sources

| Source | What it supplies | What it cannot do |
| --------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Salesforce or HubSpot | Supported contact and account fields, plus opportunity stage and outcome data for synced accounts | Import arbitrary custom fields or CRM campaign membership; HubSpot has no writeback |
| CSV | Contacts and addresses for a one-time or standing list | CRM matchback, so reports for CSV-only lists stay descriptive |
| Sourced list | Businesses the agent finds from your criteria, with typed postal addresses and dated signals | Verified email; a pipeline address is never labelled verified |
| Company directory | A large set of United States and Canadian companies to filter against | Contacts, which still come from a CRM, a CSV or sourcing |

Salesforce contacts can be scoped by compatible list views, owners, title, geography, or mailing-address presence. HubSpot imports a fixed field set for eligible contacts, their companies, and related deals. Both can detect a newly observed closed-lost opportunity for the approved revival flow; neither is a general CRM workflow engine.

A CSV is a complete starting point. You get delivery and engagement reporting, honestly labelled, and can connect the CRM later without rebuilding anything.

## What sourcing collects

Sourcing discovers accounts first, then at most a few current, relevant contacts per qualified account. Volume for its own sake is not the goal, because a piece to the wrong person costs the same as a piece to the right one.

Every sourced address is typed as headquarters, registered or mailing, so a registered office that happens to be somebody's house is not treated as a place to send a gift. A sourced address enters human review and never overwrites an address that has already been verified.

Signals such as job listings, funding and expansion travel as dated, sourced facts. A claim with no date and no source does not become a sentence on a postcard.

Email, LinkedIn and X are collected only when you ask for them, because each one costs money to look up. If you want physical company addresses only, sourcing skips them.

## Address resolution and verification

Addresses run through a resolution waterfall across commercial data sources and your own CRM. The result carries a postal verdict and provenance: which source said it, and when.

The verdict is what the verifier actually returned rather than a guess about the string. Verification itself happens when an address is picked for use, so the spend is budgeted rather than run across every row on import.

Verification and correction are included on every plan, including the audit plan.

## The mailability audit and the review queue

The audit is the pre-flight view of a list: how many contacts are mailable now, how many need a person to look, and why each one failed. Low confidence goes to the review queue rather than to the mailbox.

Clearing the queue early is worth the time. A touch whose address fails the mailability guardrail stays blocked until the address is corrected or approved. It does not print, advance or silently slip to a later day.

## Suppression is not a filter

Removing someone from a list stops future enrolments. It does not exit the enrolments they already have or cancel queued pieces. That is what [suppression](https://trysincerely.com/docs/suppression) does, and it is instantaneous and global.

## What to read next

[Writing and design](https://trysincerely.com/docs/writing-and-design) covers what happens to a contact once the list is ready. The [glossary](https://trysincerely.com/glossary) defines the address-quality terms, and [operations](https://trysincerely.com/operations) is the marketing-side view of the same pipeline.
