Tactile marketing means physical marketing a recipient can touch. That covers direct mail, [dimensional mail](https://trysincerely.com/glossary/dimensional-mail), branded gifts, product samples, and other objects delivered to someone. It describes the medium, not a postal format or a campaign method.

In B2B marketing, gifting platforms often use "tactile marketing" as an umbrella for direct mail and gifts. It lets a vendor put a postcard, a handwritten note, and a boxed item in the same category. Fair enough. Mostly, though, it is marketing gloss for several kinds of sends with very different costs and logistics.

## Why it matters

The label has one practical use. A team can set broad rules for physical sends, then choose a format based on the account, message, budget, and delivery information.

That convenience ends quickly. A letter can move through standard mail production. Send a food gift and you may need recipient acceptance, dietary checks, and a carrier that handles parcels. A bulky mailer can trigger postal rules that an automation-compatible letter does not. Calling everything tactile does not make the operations interchangeable.

Nor does the term tell you anything about strategy. The object might support account-based outreach, a customer thank-you, an event invitation, or a [direct response](https://trysincerely.com/glossary/direct-response) campaign. The useful questions are why it is going out and how the sender will judge the result.

Sincerely keeps mail and gifts distinct in the send plan, even when a team groups both under tactile marketing.

## Example

A company mails postcards to 800 accounts before a trade show. Sales also wants to send boxed food gifts to twelve active opportunities. Both sends count as tactile marketing. Only the postcards are direct mail, and the two jobs need separate approvals, budgets, and delivery workflows.

Use the category if it helps. Just make the send plan say what is actually going in the mailbox or arriving at the door.
